Mail General: Activating Gandi Mail breaks forwards?

You should be logged in to post new messages. Create an account.

I created the Gandi Mail mailbox to my existing domain (syyrakki.com)
and after that the email forwarding stopped working. I assume there is
a connection. The symptoms are as follows:
----------
Hi. This is the qmail-send program at <my service provider>.
I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following
addresses.
This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out.

<my email-alias in Gandi>:
217.70.184.6 does not like recipient.
Remote host said: 550 5.1.1 <my email-alias in Gandi>: Recipient address
rejected: undeliverable address: host mboxes-v.mgt.gandi.net[10.0.22.70]
said: 550 5.1.1 <my email where the mail is forwardedt>: Recipient
address rejected: User unknown in virtual mailbox table (in reply to
RCPT TO command)
Giving up on 217.70.184.6.
-------------
- The <my email where the mail is forwarded> is a valid email address -
works when mailed directly.
- I am using Gandi DNS
- Everything worked perfectly for years before I tested Gandi Mail
- I tried deleting the mailbox - no effect
- I tried creating new forward - the same error happens
- In the control panel it looks like activating the mail changes the DNS
zone (domain without mail shows Gandi Zone, with mail shows
2007.06.18-gandimail) and I could not find a way to reverse this
process.

The forwards that now don't work are used by many people who obviously
are at the moment quite annoyed. OK, I was stupid-stupid-stupid to test
the Gandi mail with domain in production use but I stupidly thought only
the new functionality was beta...

I sent a support request but maybe someone can offer some advice here?

Matti
Hello,

It is necessary to you to recreate alias on the page Gandi Mail in the
Administration. Click on "create" button, and select Frowarding for "Type".

Sorry for my bad english*

Jonathan,

Thank you for your quick reply that helped to limit the damage for now.

I tried what you suggested: deleted the old aliases and created them
again identically. No effect, same problem continues. After some
further testing, I concluded that for some reason it was not possible
anymore to forward mail to my other domain jaanu.net - registered with
Gandi but using external DNS. Before activating Gandi Mail the forward
worked OK and there are no other known mail delivery problems to that
domain. Forwarding to other domains seems to work OK and I was
hopefully able to bypass the problem for now and get mail going again -
although long way around and not always where I really want to.

I hope Gandi can solve the domain problem for me and maybe issue a
warning to those who manage closer to 1000 aliases not to try Gandi
Mail yet if it really requires recreating all the aliases...

I found a tricky bug yesterday evening that prevents forwarding emails
to domains that used to be full-hosted by Gandi (even quite long ago). We
have located the origin of the problem and are currently working on it.

    Sorry for the inconvenience.

So, what's up ? It seems that's the problem I'm experiencing as well at
the present time. Is there any solution to get it to work now ? When
will this bug be corrected ?

Greetings.

Well, I discovered the problem on one of my domains (the only one that
had Gandi mail activated) on tuesday.
I shifted redirections to a different email addresses as a quick
work-around but obviously I would say that the patch from Monday didn't
solve everything.

No, it's obviously not fixed.
