We do web site development for folks. If they want us to register a domain for them, we make sure they get a new handle at the registrar as the owner of the domain. We'll set folks here as the Admin, Tech, and Billing contacts for the new domain. So: example.com: owner: CUSTOMER01-GANDI admin: SOMEONE01-GANDI tech: SOMEONE02-GANDI billing: SOMEONE03-GANDI If we want to register another domain for them, and we log using one of our handles, we end up as the owner of the domain. We could get or keep copies of the customer's credentials, and impersonate them to create the domain, but that approach has a number of problems. We would rather not set up a new handle for them each time and we do not want to go through the "new owner" process to change the owner after the domain is created. Am I missing some obvious step here? Can someone tell me the right way to assign the owner handle to another account during registration?

Hi there, The "reseller" account is designed for just this purpose. Once you have converted your Gandi handle into a reseller account, you have the possibility of specifying the owner handle of the domain you are registering during the registration process - while being logged in under your reseller handle. For more on our reseller account please have a look at our FAQ at the following page: http://www.gandi.net/faq/view_category/en/... Best regards,

Dear Ryan, If this type of a consultant/Small business wanted to use your reseller account...here is the dialog: On the reseller registration page, there is a "compulsory" field of [Company]. what if the reseller is a consultant, not a company? I think he would have one of four choices: 1- A temporary name of a will-be company..that he might elect to change sooner or later. 2- His own name, his own last or first name 3- A generic name like: Reseller, Domain Reseller, Domain Consultant, Web Design Firm, etc. 4- Typing: NA What do you advise he should do in this case? Thanks Mohamed

Hello Mohamed, The reseller account is exclusively designed for legal entities that are registered (companies, organizations, etc.) who either manage a large number of domains, or who resell them to their customers. As such , there is an obligatory 'organization' name, and a place to enter the registration/VAT number. Non-resellers benefit from the same sliding rate scale as resellers, but it is true that one of the advantages of the reseller account is to be able to specify the name of the owner at the time of the domain's creation while being logged in under the reseller handle. If you practice your business as a consultant, you can place your name in the 'Organization' field, though in order to do so you must still provide one of the registration codes that you have been provided when you registered your professional activity (for paying taxes, etc.) Otherwise, to create domains for others, simply create the handle of the owner, then log in under that handle to create the domain name, and attribute your handle as the administrative, technical and billing contact for example. Best regards,
