I bought a couple of .tel names yesterday. Now I don't know how to set them up. From the telnic documentation the dns info should be managed through a control panel - hosted by Gandi or telnic? Attempting to use Gandi nameservers gives me an 'error occurred while changing the nameserver' message. telnic's .tel whois shows my domains as status: inactive. What next? Should I be chasing Gandi (who at least provide a forum) or telnic (who don't) for more information? I believe (but am not sure) that Gandi should have sent me a mail with url, name and password for the control panel at time of confirming registration.

The first part of the answer to this is to set the nameserver to: A0.CTH.DNS.NIC.TEL D0.CTH.DNS.NIC.TEL N0.CTH.DNS.NIC.TEL After propagation, you should see the WHOIS on telnic.net switch status to 'pendingCreate'. Will post back here when I find what to do next: seems bizarre no-one is supplying more instructions. It's also worth searching the french-language forum on gandi for .tel: there are more .tel related questions on there than in the english section (so far) Graham

Some .tel management links have appeared on the domain management pages (i.e. going into the standard pages for managing your domain, select the domain and have a look at what is in the lower right). I've not tried it yet.

Yup, so now the Gandi management page supplies you with a username and password to login to the management interface on telhosting.gandi.net. The 'activate telfriends' option is still giving me an error, so I can't make private data visible to anyone, but otherwise most things seem to work Graham

Still no joy, the actual .tel addresses aren't accessible and activatefriends doesn't work. According to a 'Carol' on the french forum who seems to work for Gandi it's a bug that's taking longer to fix than expected and they will let everyone know when it is. I hope that includes english language customers as well as french speaking ones, cos I've certainly had zero commentary or explanation from Gandi so far. Graham

Now activatefriends works. But 3 weeks after buying the domains they are still not resolving anywhere. According to telnic.org/whois.html they exist but are still in state 'pendingCreate'. dig grahamseaman.tel @a0.cth.dns.nic.tel shows me that the domain is assigned the IP 194.77.54.2 (same as .tel addresses which do resolve). But it doesn't resolve. Where is the problem? Something I need to do, telnic need to do, or gandi need to do? gandi appear to ignore this forum, and I can't join the telnic forum because the acknowledgement email send is broken. Where else can I get advice? Graham
