i can log into my domain name and change the info, but when I hit renew
it says not registered.

The forwarding email addresss I was using "died" so if I was sent a
renewal notice it did not get to me.  I think I am couple weeks past the
subscription date, or maybe just close to it.


what do I do to renew?

There may be several different things that may be causing this, but
based on your description here I can't single any one out over another.
I strongly suggest that you try renewing directly from the renewal page
at: https://www.gandi.net/domain/renew/search/  

Also, I urge you to contact our support directly with the details (what
