Domain General: Verifying Ownership

You should be logged in to post new messages. Create an account.

Hello, there is a company that is trying to verify that I am the owner
of my domain (avatar.com). Which, I am. But they way they go about this
is that they want me to send an e-mail from an account that matches the
WHOIS admin's e-mail address. I believe Gandi changes that to prevent
spamming. I have entered by Gandi Handle for the admin contact, but
WHOIS shows this:
ba92d4c5080c563426b4231c25ee2f66-kh87@contact.gandi.net

How can I send am e-mail from that address? Or, change the admin address
to match my real address (kory@avatar.com)?

Thanks,
Kory

I hope they will check that you can actually receive e-mail addresses to
the
amdin's address - as anyone can just send an e-mail from that address
(by
just configuring their e-mail client).

BTW, what happens when you send an e-mail to that address? Does it get
forwarded to your real e-mail address?

Set "Private Domain Registration" to "no".

First of all, as Christof said, *anyone* can send email *from* that
address. If they want to verify your domain, they need to verify that
you can *receive* mail sent *to* that address.

As for sending a mail that appears to come *from* that address, most
mail clients allow you to add additional email addresses, often called
labeled "identities". If you want more specific help, you'll need to
specify what email client you use.
