I have the same problem. Even though my domain had an owner email listed
with it, Gandi made a separate "owner" account for me, WITHOUT MY
CONSENT, having no email address listed for it. So, I cannot login
because I don't have the password. I don't have the password because I
didn't make the account. The account doesn't have a valid email id
because Gandi says (incorrectly) that the whois information had no
email listed.
How can the whois have NO EMAIL listed??? It is a requirement.
It is now, It wasn't the case before.
We still manage abour 100k domains without a valid email for the owner.
They expect me to send my personal documents, a letter of incorporation
of the company and probably my soul before they will transfer ownership
to me.
What sort of extortionate business does this? I have used various domain
registrars but none who were so bad.
We forbide the possibility to change the owner of a GTLD (com, net..)
domains in case of transfer in for security purpose. Our business is
a technical and mainly a legal business.
You can read various articles about our jobs like the one in CNET for
instance

I don't even expect my money back, which rightly, I should. I just want
control of my domain name.
It seems I have to prove that I am a real human being to them. If I had
the authorization to initiate a transfer process to them, I think that
should be sufficient evidence that I am the owner.
Once again, it's our business to protect your domain. More and more people
loose their domain because the thought this was a sufficient evidence.

Nicolas
And of course, all this hassle and extortion is FOR MY PROTECTION. :)
LOL.
It's a sad joke.

I have the same problem. Gandi has changed the handle for my site
owner
( me!). The new handle has an illegal e-mail address, so there is no
way for me to retrieve any password. The billing and other handles
remain correct. I still have the confirmation e-mail registering
ownership to my e-mail address, but I have now lost control over the
ownership.
My guess is that Gandi may have tried to contact me once, and my mail
box was full. Therefore , their system automatically defined the
address as illegal, and assigned a random handle.
I have opened a support ticket, but as yet, have received no reply.
This
is extremely frustrating. I hope they solve this soon. Who do I turn
to?
